Home of Lonesome George

Charles Darwin Station has an important role on the islands. It is in charge of the captive breeding programs and the research for two species of land iguanas and ten out of fifteen subspecies of giant tortoises still alive. This was the home for Lonesome George, the last living species from Pinta Island. Visit this famous turtle museum and all the baby turtles currently repopulating the islands.
